Royal Ascot Dress Code - Rewritten

This post is a styling opportunity I have been given in company of a online retailer FARFETCH. The Royal Ascot, one of the prestigace horseracing events in Britian, which focuses more on the fashion than the race itself. I've been ask to "Re-Write the Royal Ascot Dress Code". When I was contacted about the contest I was on board, as this is my chance to express my creativity in fashion and style a unique outfit for the event which can be completely out of the box but still appropriate for the event. I have took the liberty of scrolling through the website and couldn't make my mind up on one outfit, so I created 3 outfits extremely different from each other. There is so much inspiration on their site and originality in their clothes and their campaigns.

//Maison Rabih Kayrouz Asymmetric Draped Dress//Alexander McQueen 'De Manta' Clutch//Piers Atkinson Flower Appliqué Pillbox Hat//Saint Laurent Paris Pumps//
There is something about this dress which is perfect for such an event. The simple white dress just hangs over the knee and the way the drapes falls is just perfect for the races as it is just an elegant dress. With such a beautiful dress you need to mix it up a bit with a crazy hat, this flower number caught my eye whilst looking for hats because a hat is COMPULSORY at such an event and makes the outfit feel more suitable for the races.
//Michael Kors Cropped Tie Detail Shirt//Chloe Cropped Trousers//Dolce & Gabbana 'Bette' Ankle Boots//Dolce & Gabbana 'Dolce' Shoulder Bag//Salvatore Ferragamo Leather Gloves//
Outfit number 2 and it's time to get more formal, SHIRT AND PANTS COMBO. It's all so minimal and simple with a black tie shirt and cropped white pants but the main focus is the accessories within it. I am breaking the rule of no hats here, woops...however a cute red shoulder bag with embroidered details and some leather gloves builds this outfit to royal status.
//Oscar De La Renta Floral Print Strapless Top//Joseph Pleated A-Line Skirt//Talbot Runhof Embellished Coat//Sophia Webster 'Lola' Pumps//Saint Laurent Medium 'Sac de Jour' Tote//Dita Eyewear 'Hurricane' Sunglasses//
I am breaking the rules double this time, going no hat, and a top with no straps. My excuse is THE COAT WAS MY FOCUS PIECE FOR THIS OUTFIT, I was stunned when I laid my eyes on this mesh coat with embellished details on the sleeve, so no matter what all my outfit had to revolve about the coat. A floral strapless top is a cute especially teamed up with this pleated midi skirt. I wanted items which can also stand out so these colourful shoes with this creative pattern could tie the outfit together, along with a vibrant green bag also some statement eyewear.

Bohemian Festival Girl

Festival season is soon to be upon us and it's a great season if I say so myself, sun (if you're lucky), music and everyone is on a good vibe. Personally I love festivals and how it can bring people together and I also love how people dress for the festivals. Most people go for the traditional way of wearing an minimal amount of clothing however I prefer the bohemian/hippie style, flower crowns, wispy tops and delicate details. This can be associated with the 70's look which is a huge trend this season but as seen on huge celebrities like Vanessa Hudgens and Kendall Jenner, the bohemian style is a go to look for any girl who's planning to go to a festival this year.
This outfit is something I may potentially wear for wireless which is ONE MONTH AWAY. Cannot contain my excitement especially as it lands on my birthday. I thought of going comfy with a simple floral playsuit with subtle bell sleeves, some cat eye sunnies, and will be adding major accessories all over my body. The shoes will depend on the weather, it will most likely be timberlands but if it's raining heavy I will be definitely be digging the wellies maybe even invest in a pair of Hunters, the typical festival cliche.
I also apologise for the lack of post, I've been so busy with college assignments (there will be a blog of my finished work around mid June) I haven't had time to blog, I've also been having blogger's blog with not knowing what to write about. However I will promise in June I will become more frequent as I have a lot of ideas flooding in and in my draft box waiting for the photos and text for all you guys to read about.

Focus Piece: Culottes

My current fashion fixation is a pair of culottes, the oversized shorts are a perfect piece for this season especially. The cropped flared pants are perfect to wear for either day or night, I enjoy experimenting different ways of styling them. I picked up this black pair in the sale at NEW LOOK at the beginning of the year and been waiting for the spring/summer months to be wearing these more but I don't want my collection to end, I want to have a growing collection for culottes in all colours and styles.
